My passion as a Mental Health Counselor is to assist people with developing the skills to live, think, behave, and feel according to the values that are most important to them. I believe in the importance of helping clients to develop their own unique coping skills that support them throughout their daily lives. My focus is to build a strong therapeutic alliance that will help us work together towards your goals.
In my work with clients I help them to challenge distorted thoughts that negatively impact their attitudes, feelings, and behaviors. I work closely with clients in learning and implementing healthy coping strategies and emotion regulation skills that work best for them in their daily lives.
A large part of my training has been in the area of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is a powerful approach in helping people decrease depression, anxiety, and unhealthy behaviors, while building a more positive sense of self and self-esteem. I individualize my approach with each client I work with by incorporating other modalities into the therapeutic process. I am a culturally cognizant counselor and look forward to working with you to identify specific ways that we can together work towards your goals.
