Marisa is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor with over 12 years of experience helping teens and adults build confidence, resilience, and meaningful lives. She specializes in supporting people through challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, Autism, neurodivergence, and school or job stressors. She also works with individuals exploring career paths, navigating life transitions, or seeking greater purpose and balance. Marisa holds a Master of Science in Education in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Hofstra University and is currently working toward licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
With a background spanning vocational counseling, mental health, and higher education, Marisa specializes in empowering clients to discover their strengths, overcome barriers, and navigate transitions in school, work, and life. With her experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and Evaluator she has provided individualized counseling that integrates work readiness, job coaching, career exploration, and community resource connection. Her work includes guiding clients through interview preparation, resume building, and post-secondary planning, whether that involves higher education, training, or entering the workforce. Marisa’s clinical focus includes supporting adults and young adults/teens facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress management, neurodivergence, Autism, and school or job performance. She also works with individuals navigating life meaning and purpose, community integration, and vocational/independent living goals. In addition, she has experience addressing concerns such as mood disorders, ADHD, grief and loss, chronic illness, invisible disability, women’s issues, life transitions, and caregiver support. Her theoretical approach is person-centered and strengths-based, using techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients identify their unique abilities, manage challenges, and take steps toward their goals. Whether it’s career readiness, emotional well-being, or daily life struggles, Marisa is committed to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward with confidence and agency.
